After being sought out to set up the Events Department at Soho House London in 2000, where functions ranged from the high profile to the most intimate events as well as planning over 100 weddings, Jo was offered a role on the founding team for Soho House New York.
In January 2003, Jo moved to New York City to be one of the major creative forces in the creation of Soho House. She had the sole responsibility of setting the foundation for the communications systems within the hotel, the private club, and the spa. She was also the creator of the New York member’s monthly calendar that specialized in providing members the chance to see pre-release screenings and attend exclusive events within the walls of the club.
With the above tasks at hand, Jo was introduced to many high profile executives in the media and entertainment business and liaised with them regularly on club matters as well as the films and events in the program. It was through this consistent interaction that Jo has gained the insight into the business and forged relationships that she might not have by just being in the hospitality industry.
Jo was instrumental in finding the right members of Soho House, which demanded the profiles of people in media, music, entertainment, film, and fashion. With Jo's expertise, she was asked to be a member of the leadership team in which she voted on all senior management decisions. She was also asked to be the spokesperson of the group which required her to produce all press materials and speak on behalf of Soho House at all times.
With all of her duties, responsibilities, and requirements, Jo was still able to focus on her strengths, which were founded in London, events. Jo has had the opportunity and privilege to jump start and oversee many high profile events ranging from the opening party for 300 guests at Soho House in May of 2003 to a dinner hosted by Robert de Niro and Jane Rosenthal for the TriBeCa Film Festival in May, 2006 and to hosting and being the liaison for the annual President Bill and Senator Hillary Clinton's Christmas drinks party for three years running from 2003-2005.
Jo was also asked to attend and represent Soho House at festivals such as Cannes, Toronto, Sudance, New York and the TriBeCa Film Festival.
In March 2007 Jo left her full time position as Director of Marketing at Soho House and now works as a consultant for them and still produces the members’ calendar of films and events.
At this time Jo has formed her own company, ADDY INC. and with her she takes 15 years of service and knowledge and combines that with some of the strongest connections in the industry. As you can see from the above, while Jo was based in the hospitality industry, her role was much more than that.
ADDY INC. opens its doors to client’s, private or corporate, to provide strategy and consulting on marketing and events in the arts, fashion, hospitality, media and entertainment industries.
